What do I make of this... Er... Situation?

There is this guy I sort of like who I have known for a few years and we have almost everything in common. He is always picking on me (in a funny way) and whenever I touch him (high fives and playful punches) he smiles and scoots ever so closer and punches/high fives me back. He also follows me when we are in a room together. One of my friends likes him too, though. One day my friend asked me to tell him that she liked him and, being me, I couldnt say no. But she instantly got nervous when I did and said I liked him too. I proceeded to act extremely awkward, and he still managed to tell me how easy I was to talk to even in awkward conversations. When my friend asked if he liked either of us, this guy said we were both his friends (not implying more or less). Lately in band he has been talking more to me than my friend and, even when he's talking to other people, he will follow me and look occasionally to see If I'm listening... Idk what to make of this... He's going to a different school next year.
