I need to make a page sensitive external menu in JSP so that the page that is active link is plain text.....?

Example if I have 3 pages Intro, FAQ, Help. When I click intro the faq and help pages are active but the intro page is plain text. If I click faq the help and intro is active but the faq is plain text. I was told you need to use session varibles for this?
