What are the contact policies of a sorta one night stand?

Ok...so its kind of a long story, I'll try to shorten it up as much as possible. I met a guy on saturday (I don't know if it matters but it was at a casino). He was with a group of his friends and I was with my sister in law. We were getting ready to go back to our local bars and my guy and his friend wanted to go back there with us but they didn't have a car, so I told them I would take them home in the morning, but I didn't have anywhere for them to stay (I recently had to move back in with my parents...another long story) So he said they could just get a hotel. So they came back with us. We had both been drinking beforehand too. We had alot of fun, went to a couple of the local campus bars and several times he mentioned hanging out again next weekend, which could have just been drunk talk...I don't know. Anyways, we leave the bars to go to take him to the hotel, and I decided to stay (his friend was gonna stay with some local frat buddies). We made out, and messed around, but never actually did the deed. His friend ended up not having a place to stay, so he came back, by that time it was late so we all ped out (his friend was on the floor...there was no funny business or anything)....I've never done anything like that before, and there was lots of cuddling and kissing in the morning and he had the room that night technically because we checked in so late and he talked about coming back that night to hang out again so I took it as a good sign. To be honest I'm not much of a morning person especially after a night of drinking...so on the way to taking him homs (like an hour drive) I didnt really talk much. I'm kind of an awkard person, especially when in situations I'm not sure how to handle. So I dropped him off..we hugged and exchanged numbers. Later that night he sent a message to see if I got home ok, I said yeah and then didn't hear from him till like 1:00 a.m. I guess my questions are if you mess around with someone on the first night is it destined to turn into a call situation? And should I try to contact him at all? Did I mess up by not talking much in the morning? I sent him a message around 8:00 and never heard back from him....Am I just being a paranoid freak?!? This is why I never do this kind of thing...I don't like not knowing what to expect. What do I do?!?!?!
