Digital camera suggestions or ideas?

My birthday is coming up. I want a new digital camera. I need to figure out what one i want so i can tell my boyfriend. I am looking for something fair priced. I want it to be 12 mega-pixels or more. It needs to take good quality photos. I have photo-shop and corel photo paint pro so i can edit..it doesn't need to be professional. I need one that works great both indoor and outdoor. Any suggestions?? Im a n00b so im not all that savvy with photography lingo.
